We recently got the opportunity to do a Nikon D80 review. Nikon are known for being the preferred brand of professional photographers, and are renowned for their quality. It’s always a pleasure reviewing Nikon products, because they’re clearly designed with the user in mind. Unlike some brands that put controls in strange spots or leave out key features, Nikon cameras (including the one we used in our Nikon D80 review) are effortlessly comfortable to use.
Without the right camera, photography can be a frustrating experience. When you’re new to photography as a hobby or career, seeing all the advanced bells and whistles of a professional camera is usually confusing. On the other hand, if you buy a too-simple model like a point-and-shoot, the lack of features and quality will eventually hold your photography back. We usually like to recommend a camera that can grow with you, and our Nikon D80 review showed that this is definitely one of those cameras.
One of the great things we noticed in our Nikon D80 review is this camera’s ability to seamlessly blend elements from both entry-level and professional cameras, notably the D50 and D200. The D80 includes a number of thoughtful features, like built-in retouching and optimization, SD card storage and a sensor capable of over 10 million
effective pixels. This blend gives users the best of both worlds: the high-quality features help you take impressive photos, yet they’re easy enough for a complete novice to use.
This also translates to a more manageable price tag. In our pricing research for this Nikon D80 review, we found that the price difference between the D80 and the D200 is pretty substantial, but the D80 doesn’t cost much more than the entry-level D50. The Nikon D80 camera would still be a great value at the D200′s price thanks to itseasy-to-use features, but who doesn’t love a bargain?
